A busy week ahead

The calendar has turned from January to February.

The weather is getting warmer, but it is also getting colder.

Thank you Texas.

This opening week of February is chock full of events that will keep anyone involved in sports busy.

First up is National signing day on February 2. By the time most of you read this column, our football team will have 25 new players. National signing day is the unofficial new years day of college football. It is where the future student-athletes choose the school where they will spend the next three to four years.

On the hardwood, the Roadrunners are in the thick of the Southland race with two home games coming up. Stop on by the convo on Wednesday where system bragging rights will be on the line as UT-Arlington makes the trip down.

Saturday is Homecoming against Lamar. The athletic department will be selling guest tickets for $7 on Wednesday and Thursday outside the bookstore in the UC. Students will still get into the game free. The early ticket sale is designed to help students who may have guests avoid a line on Saturday.

Of course the capper of the week will come Sunday when the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers square off in Super Bowl XLV from Cowboys Stadium.

It is ironic that two of the Cowboys championship rivals are squaring off in the first Super Bowl held in Dallas.
