September 21, 2009
UTSA soccer team fell 1-0 against Baylor in overtime on Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Recreational Complex.
The Roadrunners dropped to 3-6 on the season, while the Bears improved to 4-1-2 on the year.
Lotto Smith scored the game-winning goal off a pass from Lara Doherty at the 97-minute mark of the first overtime to give Baylor the win.
Despite being outshot 18-8, UTSA had its chances to end the match in regulation when senior Halee Hamm’s shot sailed high with less than two minutes to play. Sophomore Taylor Padia had a clear look at goal, but her shot was wide with 67:04 to go in the frame.
Baylor’s Lisa Silwinski shot attempt hit the crossbar and then Christine Clark had a chance to knock it in off the rebound, but freshman Dacia Webb made a huge save at the 68-minute mark.
Webb collected seven saves, including five in the first half, while junior Chelsea Zimmerman recorded two shots.
The Roadrunners travel to Houston for a 3 p.m. match against Texas Southern on Sept. 25.
