    Student: Ramiz Alawami

    Major: Business (Human Resources Management)

    Classification: Freshman

    Age: 19

    Where are you from?

    Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

    What got you to UTSA?

I received a scholarship through the Saudi government to come to UTSA. If I maintain a certain GPA the Saudi government will pay for me to study here.

What are your plans after college?

I plan to do something in human resources and go back to Saudi Arabia.

What do you like most about the United States?

I like how open minded people are over here. The freedoms. I also like how much cheaper things are over here. An expense t-shirt at Burberry can be $200 over here, but back home it is $400 or $500.

What do you like least about the United States?

The transportation. I don’t have a car, so it is very hard for me to get around.

What do you miss most about home?

    My family and friends.

Since you have been in the United States, what is your favorite junk food?

I love those Wonka candies. Especially Nerds. Back home we have to order those and people will sell them for a lot more than over here.

    Any favorite books?

I do enjoy the Harry Potter series.

    Any sports you like?

I love tennis. Back home I played it all the time.

    Where is your dream vacation?

New York City. Living in the Middle East I have been able to travel around Dubai and Europe but I have never been to New York City.

    Any hobbies?

    I love traveling.

Last movie you saw in the theaters?

Back home I saw the The Tourist.

What is your favorite subject in school?

    Nothing.

What is least favorite thing about UTSA?

My art history class last semester was really hard. Didn’t like it!

What is your favorite thing about UTSA?

    The diversity.
