The primary criteria for achieving the Carnegie classification of Tier One status is reaching a research fund expenditure of $100 million in the sciences and engineering. UTSA’s relentless pursuit of this status – one that completely disregards and neglects the arts – is evident. The enterprise of achieving Tier One has come at the expense of the arts and humanities at UTSA. In the left column are photos taken in the Applied Engineering and Technology (AET) and Biosciences buildings. Photos in the right column were taken in the McKinney Humanities, Multidisciplinary Studies and Arts buildings.
