The Mala Luna Music Festival is kicking off its inaugural year with a lineup some of the hottest names in EDM and hip-hop.
Headlining the festival is Kaskade, an EDM artist who formerly headlined at Coachella and brought in some of the most massive crowds in festival history.
Travi$ Scott, a former UTSA student who previously collaborated with Kanye West, will also be headlining. $cott dropped his second studio album, “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight,” last week.
The festival will also feature rising hip-hop star G-Eazy, who recently had a hit single, Me, Myself and I, and EDM superstar Steve Aoki, recently featured in “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead,” a documentary about his life on Netflix. Many more up-and-coming artists such as Kevin Gates, Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, Tory Lanez and Kehlani wil also perform.
The concert was made possible by local hip-hop promoter Scoremore Shows. The promoter hopes to give back to the San Antonio community by providing a unique cultural experience that will not only showcase the national headlining acts but also give the stage to San Antonio-based artists such as IVY, VI$ION, Phillip Wolf and Mitch James.
Scoremore Shows wishes to mold the Mala Luna festival into an event that celebrates San Antonio culture and not only feaures some of the best that our local musical community can offer but also gives back to the community and helps create future generations of musicians.
Scoremore has partnered with local non-profit organization Network for Young Artist’s (NYA) a valuable portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold at the festival will be donated. Their mission is to provide San Antonio youth with a variety of music classes: voice, guitar, percussion, keyboard and dance at an affordable cost. They provide a majority of services for low-income households, with over 63 percent of their students being economically disadvantaged and attending on scholarships.
Partnering with Mala Luna has provided two NYA students, Chloe Delgado and Chase Sauer, timeslots to perform during the festival.
The Mala Luna Music Festival will take place at the Lone Star Brewery near downtown San Antonio on Saturday, Oct. 29 and Sunday, Oct. 30. Weekend passes for the festival cost $119 and VIP passes range from $159-$399.
