UTSA women’s soccer took on the Texas State Bobcats on Friday, Aug. 30. The Roadrunners fell, 0-1, to the Bobcats in the first preseason game of the 2019 season.
During the first half, Roadrunner defense kept the Bobcat forwards out of scoring position, but in the 12th minute, the Bobcats shot past the goalie on a free kick, making the only goal of the game.
The ‘Runners shot 12 times with three shots on goal, while the Bobcats posted eight shots with three on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Jil Schneider made two saves during the game.
Jordyn Lacy had four shots during the match including two on goal attempts. Sophomore Lexi Bolton had a shot attempt early in the game that was saved by the keeper, increasing her career shots to 56.
Kendall Kloza, Camrynne Hoover, Isa Hernandez and Hannah Alfaro also put up shots against the Bobcats.
The ‘Runners also faced the Grand Canyon University Antelopes on Sunday, Sept. 1. UTSA increased their season record, 2-1, with the 4-0 victory.
The first goal of the game was scored in the 19th minute off the foot of Ellis Patterson to the far corner. Abby Kassal claimed the second goal of the night and awe first collegiate goal with a header off of a corner kick in the 38th minute. Patterson claimed her second goal of the night in the 59th minute, and senior Nicole Galan secured the final goal of the game from the middle of the box in the 70th minute.
The ‘Runners will be back on the field Sept. 6-8 hosting the UTSA tournament facing Cleveland State on Friday and South Florida on Sunday.
