Yung Gravy takes to San Antonio

Matthew Hauri, also known as rapper Yung Gravy, recently sat down with the Paisano to discuss his music, fashion and headlining his “Experiencing the Sensation” tour to highlight his hit album Sensational. Yung Gravy takes an unconventional approach to music that is reflected in the seemingly relaxed, yet somehow hard-hitting bangers that paved his path to fame following his graduation from the University of Wisconsin with a Marketing and Finance degree. He cultivated his fanbase from the raw and cult-like followings that built similar platforms for the likes of Trippie Redd, XXXTentacion and Lil Uzi Vert. But where Gravy solidifies his place in the stacked roster of rappers in this generation is his ability to remain grounded to his calm and composed personality and create carefree music that continues to sell out venue after venue.

It feels like the longevity of rappers is getting shorter, with rappers’ careers being overshadowed by the next big thing. However, Yung Gravy has proven himself incredibly versatile and has remained in the conversation for years, accentuated by the release of his most prominent track “Mr. Clean” almost four years ago.

Yung Gravy is a testament to the “don’t take life too serious” mentality many of us strive to have, but can never quite reach. His music makes you want to turn up, fostering a culture of positivity and good times at whatever social function his hit songs “Alley Oop (feat. Lil Baby)” and “1 Thot 2 Thot Red Thot Blue Thot” play at. He’s proven his discography to be essential listening, racking up nearly 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify. His talent has not gone unnoticed, with his music being validated by the likes of Chiraq’s very own Chief Keef, leading to the release of their hit song “Tampa Bay Bustdown”.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, Yung Gravy will be taking the gravy train to the Aztec Theatre to keep the good times rolling.
