Limitless! Five Women Reshape Contemporary Art
Until Sept. 19, you can enjoy pieces by Martine Gutierrez, Letitia Huckaby, Yayoi Kusama, Sandy Skoglund and Jennifer Steinkamp. A captivating and immersive exhibition that tests the limits of creation, “Limitless! Five Women Reshape Contemporary Art” connects the viewer to a different realm of self-expression. The exhibition encourages each viewer to create their own perspective on abstract art, leaving each person with a unique experience.
Is It Real? Staging Nature
Curated by R. Scott Blackshire, PhD, Is It Real? Staging Nature brings materials like chicken wire, styrofoam and insulation foam to life in order to create landscapes used in theatre. Provided by the Tobin Theatre Arts Fund, this exhibition takes its audience for a magical ride through the wonders of nature in theatre design. With pieces by Boris Aronson, Franco Colavecchia, Natalia Gontcharova, Helen Pond and Tony Straiges, “Is It Real? Staging Nature” elevates the experience of the viewer by portraying the beauty of nature on stages. This exhibition will be available for viewing until Oct. 24.
Thanks to a generous gift from UTSA alumnus Walter Downing and his wife Sharon Downing, UTSA students and faculty have unlimited free admission to the McNay. This wonderful donation is exclusive to UTSA, so come and enjoy beautiful art!
