The UTSA soccer team was among 268 women’s soccer programs to earn Team Academic Award honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Monday. This accolade is based on a grade-point average of 3.00 or higher.
“We strive to excel in the classroom by being students first and it has shown with the awards our team has collected this offseason.” head coach Steve Ballard said. “We have been fortunate to have players that put their priorities in order. Associate Head Coach Kristin Boeker has done a great job with our student-athletes and we also have a fantastic academic staff that makes sure our players get the help they need.”
The Roadrunners, who posted school-record 10 wins in 2008, tallied a team gpa of 3.14 en route to collecting the honor for the second straight season. UTSA recently placed 22 student-athletes on the 2008 Capital One Bank/Commissioner’s Fall Honor Roll., including juniors Ezinne Okpo and Kari Weiland and sophomore Alli Dillon, who were second-team Southland Conference All-Academic honorees in the fall.
