Softball announces 2022 schedule

The UTSA softball team announced its 2022 season schedule and roster for UTSA’s slate of spring sports. After a 15-31 2021 season, the Roadrunners look to improve their record.

The season’s first game will see the ‘Runners face Big 12 foe Texas Tech in the Houston Invitational on Friday, Feb. 11. With matchups against Tech and Houston, UTSA will begin its season with multiple Power Five opponents.

The first pitch thrown at Roadrunner Field will be on Tuesday, Feb. 15 against Green Bay. The ‘Runners will stay in the Alamo City and travel across town to the UIW Tournament for matchups against UMass, Omaha and Boise State on Feb. 18-20. Continuing tournament season, the team will hit I-35 to Austin to compete in the Texas Classic Feb. 24-26. Before UTSA begins to see conference games, the final tournament will be at the Boerner Invitational on March 4-6 with faceoffs against Northwestern State, UT Arlington and Fordham.

The first conference play will begin in El Paso from March 11-13 against UTEP. The ‘Runners will then return home to host Charlotte before a pair of non-conference games against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas State. The team will then travel to Ruston, LA for the three-game series against Louisiana Tech April 1-3 before hosting North Texas from April 8-10 and UIW on April 12. Continuing their conference slate, UTSA will face off against UAB April 15-17 before hosting Conference USA’s No. 1 ranked West team Southern Miss April 22-24. Wrapping up their road schedule April 20-May 1, the ‘Runners will compete against Florida Atlantic before coming home to conclude the regular season against FIU from May 6-8. 

The Roadrunners welcome six newcomers to the roster. 14 return to Roadrunner Field this season, including pitcher Tatum Seith, infielder Riley Grunberg, catcher Kindell Brooks and senior pitcher Marena Estell.
