Men’s Tennis Downs Lamar

BEAUMONT – The UTSA men’s tennis team collected a 5-2 win at Lamar on Sunday morning.
The Roadrunners improved to 8-11 overall and 2-3 in SLC play, while the Cardinals fell to 7-15 on the season and 2-3 in league action.
UTSA won two of the three doubles matches for an early 1-0 lead.
In singles action, the Roadrunners four of the six singles matches.
Diego Snyder tied the match at one when he came off the court with a 6-4, 6-4 win against senior Adam Becker at the No. 4 position. Junior Andre Moreira put UTSA up 2-1 with his 6-2, 6-4 victory over Lamar’s Maciej Bogusz at the No. 2 spot. Meanwhile, freshman Daniel Moreiras collected his team-leading 13th win of the season when he handed Allan Gomes a 7-5, 6-4 setback at the No. 5 slot. Junior Robin Fernandes’ victory at the No. 3 position clinched the match for the Roadrunners.
UTSA returns to the Alamo City for its regular season finale. The Roadrunners will host Texas-Pan America in a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday, April 19.
