On Sept. 1 the Roadrunners played their first home game of the season, a 25-19, 25-16, 25-17 defeat against Baylor.

Led by Ashlie Christenson who had 12 kills in the match the Bears took apart the Roadrunners. With a 68 hitting percentage per set, and only eight attack errors the Bears were able to out-play the Roadrunners.

Early on in the first set was taken over by Baylor. Following a kill by Whitney Walls that put the Roadrunners a point away from the Bears, the Bears went on a quick 6-0 run that put the score at 8-2. The Roadrunners fought their way back and managed a tie, but the Bears pulled out in front with two kills and a couple of errors by the Roadrunners.  After that the Roadrunners only came within three points of the Bears before losing the first set.

In the second set the Roadrunners tried to keep the score close, managing to stay within a few points from the Bears.  The Bears, however took advantage of three mistakes committed by The Roadrunners to pull their lead to six with the score at 12-6.  Again the Bears proved too much for the Roadrunners and they dropped the second set.

Going into intermission the Roadrunners were down to set and would have to play a perfect set to force a fourth set.  However, after returning from intermission the Bears were determined to sweep the Roadrunners.  The Bears started the third set by going on a 6-0 run.  Towards the end of the set the Roadrunners came alive with kills by Kendra Rowland and Walls, but by then the effort was too late.

Next the Roadrunners head to Sacramento, California for the Sacramento Invitational on Sept. 3.
