The Roadrunners picked up two wins on the road, beating Memphis (8-16, 4-8 AAC) on Friday night at the Finch Center and Florida Atlantic (14-11, 6-6) on Sunday afternoon at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
The ‘Runners beat the Tigers in four sets 25-15, 22-25, 25-20, 25-18 and the Owls in three sets 25-22, 25-23, 25-24.
Friday night’s match was packed with many high stats. UTSA’s freshman middle blocker Miranda Putnicki made 12 blocks against the Memphis Tigers, breaking the university’s record of total blocks made by a single athlete during a match.
A total of 52 kills carried the team to claim a victory over the Tigers. Hitters Mia Soerensen and Cansu Gunaydin alongside middle blocker Alicia Coppedge racked up the most kills during the match. The women made 17, 11 and 12 kills respectively.
Soerensen and Coppedge also contributed to blocking the Tigers offense with seven and six blocks.
The ‘Runners were able to breeze past the Owls during Sunday’s match to win their fifth game in a row, making this their longest conference winning streak since their 2018 season.
Setter Mekaila Aupiu picked up 31 assists while the team landed a total of 35 kills against the Owls to win the match in three short sets.
UTSA will return to the Convocation Center to play Tulsa at 6 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
