The College of Liberal and Fine Arts, otherwise known as COLFA, is UTSA’s most academically diverse college, with 43 degree and certificate programs for students. These programs include a BA in English, an MA in Art History, a CERT in Creative Writing and many more.
Aside from these programs, COLFA supports students throughout their college career and beyond with the COLFA Student Success Center.
When asked what their mission was, Kalia Glover, assistant director for student engagement, said, “The College of Liberal and Fine Arts (COLFA) Student Success Center engages and empowers students to create their own paths in fields related to the human experience through academic, research and professional development.”
The COLFA Student Success Center, launched in January 2023, is “committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment to help students thrive both inside and outside of the classroom.” The center offers many resources for students, including peer mentorship, leadership and research opportunities, tutoring and more.
“We promote student success by working with our student organizations, faculty, alumni and campus partners on various programs and events,” Glover said. “These collaborations allow us to support our students holistically inside and outside of the classroom.”
If students do not need to use any of the center’s resources, they may also use the space for their study time.
“COLFA students are always welcome to stop by the center anytime for open study, attend a workshop/event, or seek assistance,” Glover said.
Glover went on to mention the Student Success Center’s upcoming LoFi study week, happening Dec. 4 to 7.
“We will have a range of activities for COLFA students, such as LoFi music, board games, coloring and the opportunity to lounge and take a break between finals.”
The Student Success Center is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the McKinney Humanities Building Room 376.
