Lost in the art of it all
When familiar sounds surround all around, And prayers end my night.
You would think all is right in my mind.
But, the truth is there is nothing within my hold.
Because when you close your eyes, it’s not you that’s there anymore.
What you’ve tried so hard to forget sits quietly in a corner of your mind.
A lifestyle no longer lived.
The memory you hope to have been thrown out Slowly closing in like fog on a grey day.
Then suddenly creeping up on you all at once.
Too sudden to know it’s a nightmare.
Too quick to even remind myself that you are not there.
Yet, when you awake, the feeling follows you everywhere.
