UTSA volleyball took on The College of Holy Cross and Abilene Christian University during a double-header on Saturday. The ‘Runners defeated the Crusaders in three sets (25-10, 25-15, 25-7) and the Wildcats in three sets (25-18, 25-16 , 25-17) during their first two matchups of the UTSA Invitational.
The Roadrunners met Holy Cross for the first time in volleyball. Despite an attempted defensive comeback during the second set, UTSA diminished any attempt at a successful crusade for their first time opponents. The Roadrunners held the Crusaders to a single digit third set, finishing the match to earn their first home win of the season.
Following a six-year hiatus, the ‘Runners met the Wildcats for their second matchup. UTSA seemed more evenly matched during their first set against ACU, but the Wildcats quickly suffered the consequences of their own errors as the Roadrunners raced through to the second set.
UTSA displayed an aggressive offense that kept their two opponents at arm’s length.
UTSA will continue in invitational play with its third and final game against University of Incarnate Word on Saturday at 2 p.m.
