On Nov. 3, all state parks in Texas will offer free single-day passes in honor of Texas State Parks Day. In 2023, Texas Parks & Wildlife established the state holiday, offering free admission in honor of the 100th anniversary of Texas’ State Parks; this year, they decided to continue the tradition as an annual offering for the newfound state holiday.
While all day-use entry fees are waived, Texas Parks & Wildlife still recommends making a reservation online as the parks’ capacity limits are still in effect.
All typical activities are allowed with free entry, this includes fishing, hiking, birding and more. Alongside this, there are a plethora of events spanning all state parks — including events like the Fall Plant Walk at Government Canyon State Natural Area and Footsteps of the CCC at Palo Duro Canyon State Park.
For those in San Antonio hoping to celebrate the holiday at a park, there are a variety of options in or surrounding the city. These include Government Canyon State Natural Area, Guadalupe River State Park, Enchanted Rock State Park and Palmetto State Park.
