The weather in San Antonio is changing and welcoming in the holiday season. Temperatures are dropping, leaves are falling and H-E-B is right there providing everything that is needed to get into the holiday spirit. Not groceries, so to speak, but a 40-foot-tall Christmas tree for H-E-B’s 40th annual tree lighting ceremony.
The Nordmann Fir tree has traveled over 2,000 miles to grace the city of San Antonio. The humongous tree became the center of attention, traveling all the way from Salem, Oregon and occupying Travis Park since Nov. 19. The tree lighting ceremony is set to happen on Nov. 29 and the lighting of the Christmas tree will happen at 6:20 p.m.
A tree of this size will be transformed to become a captivating and ostentatious Christmas tree decorated with more than 10,000 classy white lights and dozens of handmade ornaments. Such a fascinating tree will be an amazing spectacle to see this Friday. Perfect to bring friends and family to experience a magical heartwarming event.
H-E-B provides more than $250,000 each year for the transportation, decoration and lighting of the tree. VIA buses will be offering free rides to the lighting ceremony. This includes all VIA mainline bus services including VIA Link and VIAtrans paratransit for registered users. Note that all passengers taking the VIA buses when boarding the bus to simply inform the operator they are attending the H-E-B Tree Lighting in order to ride fare-free to the event.
