Considering UTSA softball lost eight seniors from the 2012 team, Amanda Lehotak in her second season as head coach was able to lead the Roadrunners to a 27-26 record and a return to the WAC tournament.
“I’m very proud and happy with the way our team came together and competed from our first practices in the fall all the way to our last game in May. We had so many seniors graduate from the previous season and I was pleased with the way everyone stepped up to fill the void and improve our record while playing a challenging schedule,” Lehotak said. “While my staff and I will miss our three seniors off this team, we are already excited about our incoming class and the challenges that we will face next season in Conference USA.”
Senior Haylee Staton tied her career-high of 15 wins and recorded her lowest ERA of 2.30 with 133 strikeouts. Sophomore Megan Low, who will be back to lead UTSA’s offense next season, hit .326 and lead the team with 32 RBI.
