It was not the season UTSA basketball was hoping for as they won only 10 games total including a 3-14 WAC record. The ‘Runners did make a run in the conference tournament with a victory over San Jose State and top seeded Louisiana Tech before losing in the semifinals to UT Arlington.
“It was an up-and-down year for us and it did not go the way we wanted in terms of number of wins, but we finished on a strong note with the run we made to the WAC Tournament semifinals,” Brook Thompson UTSA men’s basketball head coach said. “That epitomizes what I have always said about the character of our players. They worked hard every day and fought for what they wanted despite our record. They were a pleasure and a joy to coach and I am proud of each and every one of them.”
UTSA will be without seniors Kannon Burrage (16.6 PPG) and Michael Hale III (15.6 PPG) who were No. 3 and 4 on the WAC scoring leaders list. Returning will be forward Jeromie Hill (WAC All-Academic honoree) who averaged 13.1 points and 6.5 rebounds in only 26 games after missing some time with a knee injury.
