Men’s golf at UTSA ended the season better than they started with top 10 finishes in their final three events including a fourth place finish at the Western Athletic Conference Championship. UTSA also turned in a first place finish at the Rice Intercollegiate event in February.
“The future is bright for UTSA. Our top three finishers at the conference tournament were two freshmen and a sophomore, followed by a junior,” UTSA head men’s golf coach
John Knauer said. “With the bulk of the team returning, we look forward to competing in Conference USA next year.”
Senior Stanton Tondre finished second at the Lone Star Invitational and had a stroke average of 74.85 on the season. Next season, the Roadrunners golf team will be led into Conference USA by junior Ryan Were (74.06 stroke average) and freshman Brett Hogan (74.64 stroke average). Hogan was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week in February.
