This Saturday, Sept. 28, the I-10 rivalry begins as the UTSA Roadrunners take on the undefeated Houston Cougars at the Alamodome.

This will be the first encounter between UTSA and Houston, and it’s the last non-conference game of the season for the Roadrunners.

The Cougars are currently the third-ranked offense in the American Athletic Conference, averaging nearly 300 yards per game passing and 252 yards per game on the ground. Houston has dominated all three teams they have faced this season with an average advantage of 38.3 to 17.3.

The Roadrunners are up to the tough task of stopping the Cougars’ offense though, especially after their recent defensive performance against UTEP where they held the Miners to 99 yards rushing in UTSA’s inaugural Conference USA win this past Saturday. UTSA will need to maintain their focus from start to finish, as the high-powered Cougar offense has outscored their opponents 35-13 cumulatively in the fourth quarter this season.

Despite boasting a 2-1 away record, the Roadrunners have yet to win at home. UTSA needs to establish a home field presence early in the game by keeping up with the Cougars offensively.

Students and fans alike can expect a high scoring contest that is sure to entertain from the kickoff.

The game is set for 3 p.m. in front of what is certain to be a raucous crowd.

Be sure to have your popcorn ready.
