NGHBRS is an alternative rock band from Long Island, New York who are newcomers to Austin’s SXSW musical festival. The band has been featured on FUSE news and named “Alt Rock Band of the Year” by NYC The Deli Magazine for 2013. NGHBRS also has a very successful music video for their single “Hold Up Girl.” With a bold sound that would catch the ear of any lover of rock music, NGHBRS are a band who is gaining momentum fast. I caught up with the band in front of the Thirsty Nickel to talk about the band, themselves, and SXSW. When asked about their first experience with SXSW, Jordan (drums) said “A lot people complain about parking but we have been lucky and got the same spot the past two days in a row, so let’s go with that. Ian (vocals, keys) said “Shows have been going great. It’s just a positive environment.” With the momentum the band has been gaining from the past year, I asked what event broke the barrier and made the band realize that what they created was starting to escalate. Jordan said “it was actually right when we released the video.” Tomy stated “we started getting tweets from all different countries!” When asked about new music, the band also confirmed that a new CD should drop this coming summer.
