STANFORD, Calif. – Freshman Brandon Chiuminetta placed in the top half of a 312-runner field to guide the UTSA men’s cross country team to a 28th-place finish on Saturday evening at the Stanford Invitational.
Chiuminetta was the top Roadrunner for the second straight meet, clocking a 26:17 for 156th place, as UTSA tallied 740 points. No. 6 Stanford won the men’s title with 37 points, followed by Cal. (66) and UC Santa Barbara (97).
Sophomore Corey Vargas placed 189th in 26:40, while senior Eric Miller and freshman Zach Legg were close behind in the pack, finishing 195th (26:43) and 202nd (26:50), respectively.
Senior Larry Brooks and freshman Dominick Zucconi both crossed in 27:10 for 226th and 227th, respectively.
The Roadrunners return to the course next Saturday at the Incarnate Word Invitational in San Antonio.
