Selasie Gifa-Johnson is a dedicated Biochemistry major at the University of Texas at San Antonio, driven by a vision to increase representation in ophthalmology and make meaningful contributions to healthcare. With extensive volunteer experience in Calgary, Alberta and San Antonio, Texas with organizations like St. John’s Ambulance, Corazon clinic in San Antonio and The Eye Clinic 2020 in Calgary, where he developed crucial patient care skills, while working with diverse populations. When not focused on their pre-med studies and volunteer work, Selasie enjoys programming in Python, working on 3D design projects, and playing classical piano. With the combination of healthcare experience, personal interests, and commitment to community service shaping his path towards becoming an ophthalmologist and serving underrepresented communities.
