Romo re-appointed to Federal Reserve

The board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ San Antonio Branch has re–elected UTSA President Ricardo Romo as chairman pro tem for 2010.

This is Romo’s third appointment. “I am honored to be appointed to serve as an adviser to the Federal Reserve,” said Romo. “UTSA is a critical component of the economy of this region and the state, and I look forward to being a liaison between our community and the individuals who make crucial decisions related to monetary policy for the federal government.”

The Fed’s mission is to ensure that enough money and credit are available to sustain economic growth without inflation. If inflation is threatening purchasing, the Fed slows the growth of the money supply.

The San Antonio Branch board consists of seven members, four appointed by the Dallas Fed board and three by the Federal Reserve System Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.
