The UTSA women’s golf team placed second in the Conference USA Championship tournament in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., April 18-20. The team was one shot off a tied first-place score with North Texas.

Camryn Carreon nabbed a second-place finish overall with a 229 over the three rounds. Carreon carded seven holes under par, highlighted by a 75-shot first round, placing her with a final 13-over-par score for a silver medal finish. 

Ana Gonzalez tied for third overall with a 231 final. The senior carded a team-low 73-stroke second round. Using eight birdies to push her ahead, Gonzalez carded a 75, 73 and 83 score for the tournament. 

Finishing third for the Roadrunners was Nicole Polivchak. With a second-lowest scoring second round with 74 shots, Polivchak finished 17th overall. Starting play with an 81 first-round score, she shot a 74 and 84 second and third rounds for a 239 overall score. She ranked fifth on the leaderboard for par threes over the course of the tournament.

Tied for 24th, Hannah Holzmann finished four strokes behind Polivchak with a 243. Opening with a 77 in the first round, Holzmann scored a 74 and 84 in the following rounds. 

Rounding out the lineup for the Roadrunners was Hunter Nugent, who finished tournament play tied for 37th. Scoring 248, Nugent shot 86, 82 and 80.

Carreon and Gonzalez ranked within the top five for par fours overall. The duo also claimed spots on the birdies leaderboard, with Gonzalez at second with eight and Carreon in third with seven, respectively. 

The team ranked third in par threes, second in par fours and first in par fives and birdied, scoring a team total of 29. 

The NCAA Regional tournament has yet to make its team selections. UTSA will know whether or not the team will travel to the regional tournament held May 9 to 11 on Wednesday, April 27 at 3 p.m. The announcement will air on the Golf Channel.
