‘Runners finish 13th at Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational

The UTSA women’s golf team traveled to Lawrence, Kansas, to participate in the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational on Oct. 17 and 18. The ‘Runners finished tied for 10th out of 13 teams. The course was shortened to 45 holes due to the weather conditions on Monday evening.

Morgan Ellison was the top finisher for UTSA, claiming 33rd place. Ellison had an eagle on the 437-yard and finished with a score of 16-over 196. Daniela Abonce and Olivia Williams tied for 36th place at 17-over 197, just one stroke behind Ellison. Camryn Carreon finished 73rd with a 26-over 206, one stroke ahead of Lauren Rios at 74th (85-82-40–207). Kent State won the team title with a 21-over 741 (289-298-154), with individual champion Mayka Hoogeboom leading the way with 2-over-par 182 (71-72-39).

UTSA will conclude its fall portion of the schedule in San Marcos at the Jim West Challenge on Oct. 23 and 24.
