On Aug. 30, UTSA Women’s Basketball announced its preseason basketball schedule. The non-conference schedule will consist of 12 games, with one being an exhibition. With their official season beginning on Nov. 6, head coach Karen Aston talks about excitement even during non-conference. Throughout this non-conference series, the ‘Runners will go up against Power Five opponents such as Oregon and Texas Tech.

“I am excited about our non-conference schedule this year,” Aston said. “It is a very challenging schedule, but I believe we have to prepare for the rigors of conference play and the challenges ahead of us in the American.”

UTSA Women’s Basketball is looking powerful with a majority of their roster from the 2022-23 season returning, with players such as Sidney Love, Kyra White, Jordyn Jenkins, Elyssa Coleman and returning grad student Hailey Atwood. Joining the roster this 2023-2024 season are freshmen Idaro Udo, Emma Lucio and Aysia Proctor. There is also a new addition to the coaching staff for this season: Sophia Ramos, a recent graduate of San Diego State University, joins the staff as player development coordinator. Chantel Govan, who was recently the graduate assistant for the 2022-23 season, rises as the director of operations.

The ‘Runners will begin their preseason schedule by hosting the St. Mary’s Rattlers in the Convocation Center on Nov. 1 in an exhibition. Along with moving to the American Athletic Conference, this should be an exciting start to this upcoming basketball season.
