Curious collections: Discover vintage and vinyl in one spot

Filled with treasures and vinyl, the family-owned business Crescent Moon Music & Collectibles has something for everyone. Owners Martha and Bryan Nagel had the idea of opening a record store but decided to branch out and open a vintage mall instead. Welcoming all vendors and customers, Crescent Moon caters to their customers by taking requests on certain items.

Having experience working at a record store and selling antiques only helped the Nagels’ process of opening the shop in 2021. With the help of their daughter Marissa, who shares the same passion for music and memorabilia, the store has been able to appeal to younger generations, from the marketing to the items they sell.

Setting it apart from other vintage malls, Crescent Moon carries quality items while keeping up with different popular trends. The layout of the store allows this, with each vendor having a sectioned space. It is up to the vendor what they choose to display, and this is seen in booths filled with crystals and incense and others having vintage jewelry and clothing. Along with that, they also have their record store, with posters and anything else music-related. Similar to the collectibles, the vinyls are constantly being restocked. Customers can even recommend vinyl records they would like to see in the store by simply adding them to a list that is kept. As mentioned before, steering away from certain antiques that may be too old-fashioned and setting out more of a contemporary feel for the store truly makes Crescent Moon stand out.

While it can be very exciting to maintain a business, there are a few things Crescent Moon strives for, such as inclusivity and just wanting people to enjoy themselves while browsing the store. You can “get your coffee and walk around, even for a date,” Martha shared. She added that they try to carry this positivity throughout the store by helping out customers and answering any questions they might have.

Owning a business has always been a dream of theirs, and now that the owners have accomplished that, they are grateful. Teaching her daughter the ropes of how to run a business really makes it worth it, Martha remarked. The ability to just have fun and share their interests with the community is something the owners take joy in.

Conveniently located off the highway near the airport, Crescent Moon Music & Collectibles is open Monday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. More information can be found on their website
