On March 20, The Greehey Family Foundation committed $1.25 million to UTSA’s Be Bold campaign. Funds from the donation will be appropriated to establish The Greehey Family Foundation Athletics Excellence Fund. The new fund will provide athletic scholarships to first-generation college students and academic services to ensure their success in the classroom.

The Greehey Family Foundation set $250,000 to be used for football-related scholarships while the remaining $1 million will be used for other scholarships, academic services and health and wellness programs for student-athletes.

The Greehey Family’s legacy of support for UTSA spans three decades, even predating the establishment of The Greehey Family Foundation in 2004. Through their philanthropy, they have established multiple scholarships such as The Greehey Family Foundation Endowed Scholarship for First-Generation Students in 2007 with a $1 million donation and The Greehey Family Foundation Football Scholarship with an initial $500,000 donation, as well as yearly contributions from 2013 through 2022. The Greehey Family Foundation has donated over $2 million to UTSA overall, and their contributions have positively impacted over 100 student-athletes.

“The Greehey Family Foundation has helped lay the groundwork for the growth of UTSA Athletics and academic enrichment for our student-athletes,” UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, Lisa Campos, said.

“This partnership reflects the Foundation’s commitment to improving education and helping our community grow. We are excited to continue our work together and create more opportunities that make a meaningful difference in the lives of our Roadrunners and pave the way for their success,” she said.
