Jake (He/him) is a third-year Politics and Law major at UTSA. Originally from Austin, he plans to move anywhere but Texas after graduation. If he’s not climbing out from a mountain of homework, you can usually find him listening to podcasts, or being an avid napper. This is his fifth semester writing for the Paisano, and his first semester serving as Editor-in-Chief. He’s excited for many to come while he explores a possible career path in journalism.
Maria (she/her) is a sophomore at UTSA who is majoring in communications and will graduate in 2027 with her bachelor’s degree. She is from Houston and hopes to return for a short time to eventually move to New York city to pursue a career in broadcasting journalism. In her spare time she is usually playing sports, re-watching old shows, and listening to podcasts.
Faith (she/her) is a public health major with a minor in information systems. Despite choosing to pursue studies in these specific fields, she enjoys writing and communications and hopes to incorporate them as a key part of her career. She believes in an increasingly information-heavy world, everyone has a duty to responsibly disseminate information – contributing to the Paisano is her small way of accomplishing this.
If you ask Faith what movie she saw last night, she will have a new answer every time. Other than watching movies, she enjoys listening to and collecting music and traveling. Having grown up in the Toronto region, Texas is one stop from the many places she has called home. After her anticipated graduation in Spring 2024, she’s excited to see where life takes her next.
Marcela (She/Her/Ella) is a senior Honors College History and Classical Studies and Humanities major with a concentration in Religious Studies and a minor in East Asian Studies. She is an international student from Mexico and is the fourth member of her family to be a student at UTSA. After graduation, she plans to pursue a graduate education in Chinese history. Her hobbies include violin playing, amateur stargazing, video editing, writing, reading non-fiction, and painting. She is an avid follower of motorsports, especially Formula 1. She joined the Paisano in Fall 2021, became Assistant Multimedia Editor in Spring 2022, became Multimedia Editor in Spring 2023, and became Opinion Editor in Fall 2024.
Malaki (he/they) is a fourth-year Digital Communication student with a minor in Film at UTSA. He is originally from Nevada but has lived in the Austin area for most of his life. When not writing for The Paisano you will most likely find him thrifting, gardening or attending a concert. This is his sixth semester with The Paisano, his third as an editor and his first as the Arts & Life Editor.
