Led by the high-spirited and helpful Missy Adeboyejo, the Cycle & Core workout class is a great combination of high-impact cycling and core strengthening — which involves exercises for the abdominals and back.
As soon as the class started, Adeboyejo was quick to welcome everyone in and made sure everyone knew how to set up their bike properly. After the bikes were set up, attendees headed into the Blue Studio to set up their yoga mat for the second portion of the workout. Blaring through the speakers, the music selection for the class was perfect for the ambiance, mostly consisting of artists such as Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar.
During the cycling portion, attendees were led through the mechanics of the bike, such as how to change the resistance, check the speed and set the bike to the correct height, proving that this class is for anyone interested, whether they are a first-timer or an experienced cyclist. Adeboyejo led the class throughout the workout, shouting positive messages and encouraging each individual to push themselves to maximize their workout. Adeboyejo made the class manageable for all skill levels by incorporating a mix of high-intensity, high-resistance bursts and slower-paced cooldowns.
Toward the end of the cycling portion, the room was split into left and right halves. As one side was pedaling sprints at their absolute fastest, the other was cheering them on, shouting positive words to encourage them to push themselves even further. Once the time was up, the sides switched, and now the once encouragers are pedaling, listening to the same positive messages. Concluding the cycling portion, class goers head through a connected door into the Blue Studio.
Inside the Blue Studio, each person would find their mat to prepare for the second part of the class: core. Some chatted with friends as others stretched, but once Adeboyejo made it to her spot at the front of the room, the strengthening exercises began. Held in certain second intervals, the class got led through different abdominal workouts. Allowing for water breaks and offering different variations of each workout, Adeboyejo once again proved that this class truly can accommodate every skill level.
The “Cycle & Core” workout class is overall a great 45-minute session that is open to anyone interested.
This class is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. It is advised to arrive at least five minutes early for a proper bike and mat set-up.
