Over the past decade, UTSA has produced high-quality professional talent in various sports, including football, baseball, basketball, volleyball and soccer. With over 150 UTSA student-athletes going pro across men’s and women’s sports, here are the top five current professional Roadrunners.
- Keaton Wallace – Atlanta Hawks
Wallace went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, but was selected in the second round of the NBA G League Draft by the Wisconsin Herd. After spending three years in the G League, the guard eventually signed a two-way contract with the Atlanta Hawks in 2024. Wallace got his first taste of NBA action on Oct. 27, 2024, and has been a reliable bench player for the Hawks ever since. The guard ended his rookie season by posting a 15-point triple-double, becoming the third Hawks rookie to achieve this feat. Wallace averaged 5.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in his rookie campaign and looks to be the backup to All-Star point guard Trae Young in his sophomore season.
- Marcus Davenport – Detroit Lions
Throughout his eight-year career, Davenport has consistently made an impact as the 14th overall pick for the New Orleans Saints, while making stops with the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. The defensive end has collected 155 total tackles, 25 sacks and seven forced fumbles in 72 games. Since joining the Lions in 2024, Davenport has recorded seven total tackles and 1.5 sacks. The veteran player is currently on injured reserve, but looks to provide pass rush help for the Lions once he returns.
- McKenzie Adams – League One Volleyball
One of UTSA’s most decorated volleyball athletes has continued her dominance around the world and with League One Volleyball. Prior to playing with League One Volleyball, Adams played professionally in Germany, Puerto Rico, Italy, Türkiye and Japan; Adams has won nine volleyball titles as well. This past season, the outside hitter was selected to the 2025 U.S. National Team’s Volleyball Nations League roster and was named 2025 League One Volleyball Outside Hitter of the Year. Adams averaged 2.9 kills, 0.3 blocks, 2.6 digs and was top nine in points with 3.4.
- María José Rojas – Flinders United Women’s Football Club
After her collegiate years at UTSA, Rojas went on to become the first Chilean female player to sign an international contract with Germany’s Bundesliga league. Rojas has also played in Japan, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Australia — where she currently plays. The forward has over 15 years of professional soccer under her belt and has achieved countless accolades throughout her career. She scored 11 goals for Spain’s Women’s National Football Team, represented Chile in the 2018 Copa América Femenina and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, scored 66 combined goals with Adelaide University in 2016 and 2017 and even won the Shirley Brown Medal for Australian WNPL Player of the Year in 2020.
- Riq Woolen – Seattle Seahawks
Selected by the Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Woolen has been one of the best young cornerbacks in the NFL. What makes Woolen so good at his position is his 6-foot-4 height paired with his 4.26 40-yard dash speed. The cornerback made an instant impact for the Seahawks in his rookie season, collecting six interceptions on 16 passes defended and earning Pro Bowl honors. In his first four seasons in the NFL, Woolen has been a key defensive piece for the Seahawks and looks to help improve head coach Mike McDonald’s defense.
UTSA continues to be a program that produces professional talent. This past summer, pitchers Zach Royse and Braylen Owens were drafted by the Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers with three other players signing as undrafted free agents. Cornerback Zah Frazier was also selected in the seventh round of the NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. With UTSA’s athletic program continuing to grow, the opportunity for talent to make it to the pros will grow with it.
