Tech Café lends students laptops

As part of UTSA’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UTSA Tech Café is lending out laptops to students who need them, offering remote assistance for technical issues on students’ personal laptops and providing information on outside resources.

In order to receive a laptop from the Tech Café, students must submit a request to [email protected] or call 210-458-5555. The laptops will not need to be returned until May 15, although Academic Computing Services Manager James Lee said University Technical Solutions is “monitoring the changes due to the COVID situation and will make updates accordingly.”

According to Lee, employees at the Tech Café will be able to, with permission, remotely access students’ personal PC and Mac computers to assist them with technological issues.

The Tech Café has also helped put together a list of other resources for students, including free internet access and information about using tools like Microsoft Teams and Webex Meetings offered by some internet companies.
