Riley Carroll
Riley Carroll, Arts & Life Editor
Riley Carroll (She/They) is a class of 2024 digital communication major with a minor in film and media studies. Originally from Houston, Texas, Riley is pursuing photojournalism and concert photography. Riley joined The Paisano during the spring 2022 semester after missing being an editor for her high school yearbook, The Talon. At 18 years old, Riley's photography won first place in a state-wide ILPC competition and at 19, she contributed her first article to the San Antonio Express-News. At The Paisano, Riley enjoys conducting artist interviews and covering live shows. Aside from The Paisano, she has published work with the San Antonio Express-News, The Fort Bend Herald Newspaper, The Talon Yearbook and The Heart Sounds magazine.

Malaki (he/they) is a third-year Digital Communication student at UTSA. He is originally from Nevada but has lived in the Austin area for most of his life. When not writing for The Paisano you will most likely find him thrifting, gardening or attending a concert. This is his fifth semester with The Paisano and his second as an editor.
Marcela Montufar Soria
Marcela Montufar Soria, Multimedia Editor
Marcela (She/Her/Ella) is an Honors College History and Classical Studies and Humanities major with a concentration in Religious Studies and a minor in East Asian Studies. She is an international student from Mexico and is the fourth member of her family to be a student at UTSA. After graduation, she plans to pursue a graduate education in Chinese history. Outside of school, Marcela volunteers at the Witte Museum as a gallery attendant during the weekends. Her hobbies include violin playing, amateur stargazing, video editing, writing, reading non-fiction, and painting. She joined the Paisano in Fall 2021, became Assistant Multimedia Editor in Spring 2022, and became Multimedia Editor in Spring 2023.

Hi, I am Samantha Ysaguirre. My pronouns are she/they. I am obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art specializing in drawing and am a Junior at The University of Texas at San Antonio. I have written for the Paisano for four months, exploring Art and poetry. A few interests outside the two involve reading and practicing contemporary dance.
