Since President Donald Trump’s first day in office, there have been no surprises to what he has signed off on during his time in the oval office. At first glance, it can be immediately understood as multiple mistakes, or maybe the wording is rearranged on the paperwork, but no, Trump’s list of executive orders are true from the heart.
To play into his heavy passion for immigration and making America “great” again, his various decisions to sign off on dehumanizing executive orders, one being in regards to many individuals’ birthright citizenship.
It is the 14th amendment that establishes citizenship to all children that are born in America and disregards the legal status of the parents.
That, however, is just one of the many he has tried to get approved to achieve his ideal America. Trump has decided that he would revoke 78 of former president Joe Biden’s executive orders, more specifically the ones oriented in the mental and physical well-being that helped Americans, unlike his that are beginning to create a divide within the U.S.
According to the official White House website the reversal of these orders will “make our Nation united, fair, safe, and prosperous again.” Through removing affordable and accessible healthcare, ending all undeserving racism.
As well to support struggling communities and no longer allow the LGBTQ community to feel safe in their motherland.
Executive order 14070 was the first to go. It was meant to continue to strengthen Americans’ access to affordable, quality health coverage and, in Biden’s own words, “to make high-quality healthcare accessible and affordable for every American.” To Trump, it is apparent that his ideal America is reverting back to the 1900s where there was a greater divide of the rich and poor.
Leading into Trump’s pattern of inequality is him revoking Executive Order 13985, which was put in place to advance racial equity and support for underserved communities through funding from the federal government. By doing so, the federal government would be able to support and empower all Americans, and focus more on the communities that have been discriminated against and mistreated. The order also helped Americans rebuild their trust in their government.
Putting his bitter cherry on top of revoking orders that were placed to truly better the country is the reversal of Executive Order 14075, which enabled the advancement of equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trangender queer, and Intersex individuals (LGBTQ). This order served to mitigate harm or mistreatment towards children and families in the LGBTQ community. They have been threatened and faced discrimination for decades, and now they are being stripped of basic human rights as if they are a danger to society.
The America Trump seeks to implement in this new year erases all the years of hard work of fighting against oppression and securing basic human rights for everyone. A life that is sustainable, affordable and equal is not on Trump’s 2025 vision board. Instead, it is fueled by a mindset of no genuine thoughts and high on “power.”
The list of all 78 executive orders that Trump has planned to revoke leave not only the majority of Americans stumped in disbelief, but the Supreme Court as well. It is hard to understand how someone who promised good changes instead signed to implement such inhumane orders to remove the ones that actually made America great.
