Hive mind soldiers claim to keep the streets clean when really they are taking innocent people from their families’ homes. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is staining the roads red to satisfy President Donald Trump’s hunger. ICE has not been defending this country; they have been tearing it apart.
ICE was one of the agencies established under the Homeland Security Act of 2002 in response to the 9/11 attacks. They claim that their mission “is to promote homeland security and public safety through the criminal and civil enforcement of federal laws governing border control, customs, trade and immigration.” They are supposed to be protecting us by deporting and detaining violent undocumented criminals. However, this past year has shown that there is no safety when you are a target under ICE.
This past year has been ICE’s deadliest. They have hit a record number of 32 deaths, a number that has not reached this high since 2004. Innocent people are being killed on the streets, like Renee Good, who was shot three times by an ICE agent while trying to drive her car. The officer claimed it was self-defense, despite him not being in the line of impact.
It is not just the deaths; it is also the detainments. ICE is holding people against their will with almost no chance of release, oftentimes appealing after a judge orders the release of a detainee. They are refusing discretion for anyone who is actually eligible, making it nearly impossible for those imprisoned to be set free and return home safe.
With the detainments, come the disappearances. Over 200 Venezuelan immigrants were being held in El Salvador, and many of them have been wiped from ICE’s database. Terrified families have loved ones taken from them, and their location is now unknown.
Speaking of citizens, ICE has been taking immigrants from their citizenship ceremonies — the ceremony that is the last step to getting their citizenship. This step comes after years, if not decades, of studying, testing, spending money and dedicating time. The whole process is the legal way that someone is to become a citizen of the United States. They were turned away because just before Trump called a green card investigation on 19 countries, deeming them concerning. After they were turned away, still considered an immigrant, the dogs of black in vests of green were there to haul them off.
ICE has not been protecting this country from any threat. They are the threat — killing and terrorizing the streets of every state, chasing down citizens, detaining innocent people and blocking any possible way for anyone being detained to get out. ICE is instilling long-lasting fear, and it did not stop when the clock struck midnight on Jan. 1.
In a case earlier this month, a woman was pulled from her car by ICE, dragging her from her vehicle while screaming that she was disabled. In another incident, ICE used five-year-old Liam Ramos as a bargaining chip to detain his father under the pretense that they were illegal. Now, both the son and father are being detained until their pending immigration court date.
ICE is now going after Native Americans, racially profiling them and questioning their citizenship. They are targeting the descendants of the original inhabitants of this land and asking them if they belong here — a race of people that were here long before conquerors washed up onto their shores. ICE is going after anyone and everyone.
ICE does not stop. They are hound dogs hunting for the sake of their leader. ICE is not an honorable organization. They do not fight for justice. They are killing this nation’s spirit and its people, striking terror into society and causing the people to flee into their homes for sanctuary. ICE does not protect the American people. Be observant and stay safe.
