President Donald Trump recently endorsed former Disney Channel star, pseudo boxer and grossly untalented social media influencer Jake Paul during a rally. This support is completely unwarranted as Paul is not even running for a political office. Trump claimed that Paul is courageous, talented and a “great guy.” This is one of the president’s biggest lies uttered during his time in office.
“I’m going to make a prediction that you will be, in the not-too-distant future, running for political office,” Trump proclaimed during his Kentucky rally. “You have my complete and total endorsement.”
“What Mr. Trump has taught me is courage. We never back down from a fight, even if they’re much bigger than you,” Paul boasted. “I feel all the local Kentuckians feel the same way. You guys have that fight. You guys have that swag.”
Paul is possibly the least qualified person to be elected to any political office, which is partially shown with his use of the word swag. He absolutely does not have the well-being of the people in mind nor does he seem to have any general interest in politics. This is especially shown through the disturbingly controversial legacy he has built during his internet fame.
Paul’s colorful past involves publicly racially profiling a Kazakhstani man, calling the COVID-19 pandemic — that took over 1.1 million American lives — a hoax, using racial slurs in a viral YouTube video and being accused of sexual misconduct. If this is a man the president is comfortable endorsing, Trump needs to raise his standards.
Trump supporting a man with a past like Paul’s is insensitive and disgusting. It is a slap in the face to everyone that has been affected by the outrageous and thoughtless actions of the so-called entertainer. U.S. citizens deserve a qualified and competent individual for national endorsement and office election. Paul is a professional clown, and the president is determined to turn his cabinet into a circus act. No citizen should be comfortable voting for him, especially not the unfortunate Kentucky residents who had to sit through Paul being on stage. Keep Jake Paul away from office.
