With the NFL having so much parity, it has become almost impossible to predict which teams will be Super Bowl contenders and who will miss the playoffs entirely. Though the NFL season is beyond reach at this point, diehard NFL fans cannot wait to see which teams will be the talking points of the upcoming season. Here are the way-too-early top five teams for the 2026-27 season:
5: Buffalo Bills
After an embarrassing playoff loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round, the Bills have quickly revamped their roster. The team made a controversial decision by firing head coach Sean McDermott and promoting offensive coordinator Joe Brady to the position in the hopes of improving the offense.
The Bills traded for wide receiver DJ Moore, which gives quarterback Josh Allen a more reliable receiving option. Moore also played under Brady when the two were on the Carolina Panthers, so the fit makes sense. Outside of trading for Moore, the team signed a handful of defensive players in free agency to improve that side of the ball and hired Jim Leonhard as their new defensive coordinator.
For any other team, these moves seem drastic, but with Allen leading the team, there is enough flexibility to make such massive changes. While the defense might not be as strong, Allen should lead this team to another 10-plus win season.
4: Green Bay Packers
The 2025-26 season was a rollercoaster for The Pack. They famously traded for edge Micah Parsons prior to the season and saw tight end Tucker Kraft have a breakout season but unfortunately lost both players to ACL injuries. Both sides of the ball collapsed on the team against their rival Chicago Bears in the playoffs to end their season.
Following the departure of defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley and special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia, the Packers pivoted and hired Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon to replace Hafley and hired Cam Achord to replace Bisaccia. The team re-signed a couple of players in free agency, but their biggest move came when they signed defensive tackle Javon Hargrave who should help the defensive line.
With change in defensive and special teams schemes, the Packers’ offense should help carry the team to a winning record. If Parsons and Kraft return looking like their 2025 selves, The Pack could be a top five team next season.
3: Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars were the fourth best team in the NFL last season with a 13-4 record, top six scoring offense and the eighth best scoring defense. While the team’s free agency moves may not be “sexy,” they do not need to add a lot to their team as is.
After their week eight bye week, the Jags posted an impressive 9-1 record to end their regular season. The team almost beat the Bills in the playoffs, but Allen’s late touchdown ended their season.
The Jags had a tremendous season in 2025, and if quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the rest of the offense can start the 2026 season the same way they ended last season, they could easily earn the number one seed in the AFC.
2: Seattle Seahawks
Any time a team wins a Super Bowl, there is usually a period of “Super Bowl hangover” the next season, but the Seahawks will be the exception because they have the best coach and scoring defense in the league.
The team lost Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III in free agency but pivoted and re-signed wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, cornerback Josh Jobe and signed running back Emanuel Wilson. Wilson showed he can be a workhorse running back in his game against the Minnesota Vikings last season where he ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
Though they lost offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak to the Las Vegas Raiders, Seahawks fans should trust that Mike Macdonald found a good replacement in Brian Fleury while the defense continues to be a force.
1: Los Angeles Rams
After finishing last season with a 12-5 record and landing in second place in the NFC West behind the eventual Super Bowl winning Seattle Seahawks, the Rams got even better. The Rams had an amazing season last year with their No. 1 ranked scoring offense and top 10 scoring defense, but their special teams were among the worst in the league.
The Rams have bolstered their defensive back room by signing Chiefs cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson in free agency. More importantly, the team signed long snapper Joe Cardona and hired special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone to stabilize the special teams unit. The offense will continue to be the strength of the team, and with improvements at cornerback and special teams, the Rams will continue to dominate.
