As the program grows, UTSA football produces an increasing number of professional talent. Marcus Davenport was selected by the New Orleans Saints No. 14 overall in 2017. Tariq Woolen and Spencer Burford played in the Super Bowl for the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, respectively. Last spring, Zah Frazier became the fifth Roadrunner selected in the NFL Draft, landing with the Chicago Bears in the fifth round at pick No. 133.
While zero players from UTSA’s 2025 squad heard their names called on draft weekend, multiple inked undrafted free agent deals. One former Roadrunner who transferred after three years in the Alamo City was selected; he’ll be included in this list because once a Roadrunner, always a Roadrunner. Here is every former UTSA player headed to the NFL:
Robert Henry Jr., running back – Washington Commanders
Henry took the nation by storm after rushing for 624 yards in the Roadrunners’ non-conference schedule, including a 177-yard performance against Texas A&M University. Henry’s production began to dwindle as teams began to make stopping him their lone priority. The increased defensive attention paired with lingering injuries limited Henry down the stretch of 2025, likely causing his draft stock to plummet. Henry received an invitation to the 2026 NFL Combine but was not selected in the draft. Instead, Henry heads to the nation’s capital as an undrafted free agent.
Shad Banks Jr., linebacker – Tennessee Titans
Banks might be one of the most impactful one-year players in UTSA history. He transferred in from Texas Christian University and was a blue-chip prospect coming out of North Shore high school. In his lone year at UTSA, Banks was a First-Team All-Conference selection in the American and posted 94 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and three interceptions. He’ll look to stick around in the Music City, bolstering an up-and-coming roster under new head coach Robert Saleh.
Kendrick Blackshire, linebacker – New York Jets
Blackshire, a former four-star prospect and transfer from the University of Alabama, paired with Banks to form one of the strongest linebacking duos in the American Conference. After injury cut his first year at UTSA short, Blackshire played his way into an undrafted free agent contract in Gotham, posting 48 total tackles and one sack in 2025.
Kamar Missouri, offensive lineman – Las Vegas Raiders
Missouri has been Owen McCown’s cornerstone left tackle since the redshirt senior quarterback took the starting role in 2024. Although Missouri was not an All-Conference talent at UTSA, he played over 1,000 snaps at one of the most important positions on offense. Reliability at left tackle is invaluable and he was awarded an opportunity in Sin City for his efforts. The Raiders just selected University of Indiana Bloomington quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick. It’s never a bad idea to stockpile consistent starters to protect him.
Trey Moore, edge rusher – Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins selected Moore in the fourth round with the No. 130 overall pick in the draft. In 2023, Moore was the American Conference Defensive Player of the Year for UTSA, registering 14 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss. He transferred to The University of Texas at Austin in 2024 where he combined for 14 sacks in two years. Miami is amid a rebuild, but Moore is a high-upside selection that has potential to develop into a solid contributor.
Kevorian Barnes, running back – New York Giants
Barnes spearheaded the Roadrunners’ rushing attack for his three years as a starter, highlighted by an 845-yard 2022 campaign. The UTSA offense slowly phased Barnes out in his final year with the Roadrunners in favor of Henry. He transferred to TCU for his final year of eligibility where he averaged 4.6 yards per carry in seven games for the Horned Frogs. With Cam Skattebo coming off a serious injury, Barnes will have a legitimate chance to secure a roster spot in the Big Apple.
UTSA has a long list of NFL hopefuls looking to make a name for themselves in 2026. Only time will tell which Roadrunner becomes the sixth in program history to be selected in the NFL Draft.
