President Donald Trump fired U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi due to growing frustration towards her poor execution of the Epstein Files’s release and lack of investigation on the president’s political opponents. Bondi’s insufficient transparency and lacking justice for Epstein’s victims, as well as her scarce regards for Trump’s retribution, caused the title of attorney general to slip from her hands, casting her into the public sector.
Pam Bondi was first hand picked by President Trump after serving as a prosecutor in Hillsborough County, later becoming Florida’s first female attorney general from 2011 to 2019. Bondi has since been well known for her loyalty to the Trump administration and compromising the legitimacy of the Department of Justice.
After assuring the delay of the Epstein Files was killing the administration’s reputation and credibility, Trump demanded strict transparency on the case, with further investigation imposed on targets of his choosing. Bondi at the time assured the list of Epstein’s clients was “sitting on her desk right now to review,” despite taking what felt like ages to release the files. However, perhaps Bondi’s worst tactic was making sure to dispose of Trump’s association with Epstein, yet failing to redact the survivors’ names. Bondi has since received well deserved backlash for her refusal to face the survivors she failed to protect.
In addition to Bondi soliciting horrible management over the Epstein Files, she also failed to help Trump defeat his political opponents. These failures started with FBI Director James Comey’s indictment on two criminal counts driven by Trump’s “personal animus.” She also failed to prosecute New York Attorney General Letitia James. Bondi’s failed criminal referrals claimed James had committed insurance fraud. Former acting Attorney General, Peter Keisler suggested “the problem is that the president is demanding that prosecution be brought when there’s no evidence and no valid legal theory.” Bondi was challenged with posing political adversaries on the Department of Justice for the sake of Trump’s name, and somehow was grim at that too.
Despite her loyalty for the Trump Administration, her inability to deliver Trump’s vision was only a mere transition to the private sector. “Over the next month I will be working tirelessly to transition the office of Attorney to the amazing Todd Blanche before moving to the important private sector role,” posted Bondi on the X. Trump however, did not clarify the reasoning behind her termination, but acknowledged her new position in the private sector, which still remains disclosed. Whether Trump has solicited a better or worse attorney is still to be determined, but one thing is for sure: Bondi had to go!
