Harvey E. Najim, a local philanthropist and entrepreneur, has donated $3 million to UTSA to launch the Harvey E. Najim Innovation and Career Advancement Center. The Career Advancement Center will focus on connecting students to career opportunities and is part of UTSA’s Classroom to Career initiative.

The center will include career faculty fellows, business innovation internships and community innovation internships among its programming for students.

Najim said he chose to support career advancement at UTSA because it impacts students’ lives.

“I chose to invest in career readiness because I have seen it work at Baylor at St. Mary’s University,” Najim said in a statement. “I want every student who graduates from UTSA to get a diploma and a job offer. Earning a college degree is the most important thing you can do to realize your dreams and change your life.”

The university plans to utilize this career center to support students in becoming competitive candidates for post-graduation careers in numerous fields, according to President Taylor Eighmy.

The Najim center will provide our students with exceptional experiential learning, training and mentorship opportunities to prepare them for success after graduation,” Eighmy said in a statement.
