The Student Government Association addressed changes to events, introduced upcoming activities on campus and highlighted free services the university provides in their most recent meeting held on Nov. 6.
Unwind Before the Grind is scheduled for Nov. 11-13 outside of the Student Union. According to Alex Hennal, SGA Speaker of the House, it will be a series of events meant to help students relax and de-stress. There will be coloring, workout classes and activities with therapy animals included. More information can be found on SGA’s website.
An etiquette dinner will take place this week, held by the College for Health, Community, and Policy in the Student Success Center on Nov. 15, from 5-6:30 p.m. in the HEB Student Union Ballroom. The SGA states that it will provide students with the ability to improve their skills in professional, social engagements. To attend this event, students must RSVP in advance.
The name of the upcoming event, Light the Paseo, has been changed to Light the Lawn. It will take place on Nov. 30 on the Brenan Lawn. As reported by the SGA, this event will celebrate the upcoming holidays and include live performances and food.
The members of SGA also informed students of the programs and services that the university provides. They highlighted the Whataburger Resource Room, which is open from Tuesday to Thursday as well as Saturday, and provides healthy, free food to students and faculty. Donating to the program was also encouraged, stating that every dollar donated was the equivalent of five meals.
The meeting adjourned at 5:57 p.m.. Their next meeting will occur at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 20, in the Travis and Harris rooms of the HEB Student Union, rooms 2.202 and 2.212.
