As the final weeks before Thanksgiving break drag on, Roadrunners weigh in on a wide variety of topics. From intramurals and daylight saving to money and a Vogue article, ‘Runners had answers to give and plenty to say.
This week, The Paisano interviewed first-year multidisciplinary sciences major Nyomi Aranda, philosophy master’s student Christian Olmeda, first-year biology major Sophia Podojil and second-year civil engineering major Andrew Garcia.
Do you play any intramurals?
While these ‘Runners do not take part in any intramurals, a few highlighted other activities they currently partake in or pursued in the past.
“I do not play anything for the school,” Podojil said. She added that she used to play golf.
“Unfortunately not,” Olmeda remarked, though he pointed out that he helps run the philosophy club as his extracurricular.
Aranda and Garcia both responded with a resounding “no.”
Should we get rid of daylight saving time?
The Roadrunners were divided on whether daylight saving should stay in place or be nixed.
“I think yes,” Aranda said, a little unsure of her answer.
“I don’t know the history behind it, but it seems unnecessary, and we’re one of the few countries that still do it,” Olmeda replied thoughtfully.
Two ‘Runners, Garcia and Podojil, agreed that daylight saving should remain in place.
If you could put anyone on a coin or dollar bill, who would you choose?
From historical figures to celebrities, the students chose wisely on who they thought should be put on a coin or dollar bill.
Both Olmeda and Garcia responded with historic leaders: Sitting Bull and Martin Luther King Jr., respectively.
Alternatively, Podojil chose her favorite singer, Lana Del Rey.
Aranda went with a classic answer — Jesus.
Do you agree with the Vogue article, ‘Is Having A Boyfriend Embarrassing Now?’
‘Runners had lots of thoughts about the viral Vogue article, titled “Is Having A Boyfriend Embarrassing?”
Aranda and Olmeda agreed that no one should be centering themselves around one person, with Olmeda adding, “It’s a shared relationship.”
Podojil was less certain. “Yes and no. I think it only [applies] for some girls, not all of them.”
A firm “nah” came from Garcia.
