With Transportation Security Agency lines extending outside multiple airports, UT San Antonio students are staying put at home. Luckily for the scholars, there is enough happening on Main Campus and in the Alamo City to keep them occupied.
The Paisano spoke with sophomore mathematics major Harmony Orsburn, freshman finance and real estate major Juan Hernandez, junior cybersecurity major Michael Gonzalez Villaquiran and sophomore politics and law major Nalani Cox.
How long are you willing to wait in TSA lines?
Gonzalez Villaquiran is rescheduling his flight after two hours, while Cox maxes out at a three hour wait time. Though he has never been to an airport, Hernandez thinks he could last about an hour. Orsburn is in a similar range, stating, “I’ve only gone to an airport once, so maybe like an hour.”
Thoughts on potentially renaming César E. Chávez Boulevard?
Orsburn thinks “It’s great, and [the city] should do it.” Both Gonzalez Villaquiran and Hernandez do not keep up with politics, but feel if the allegations against Chávez are true, the city should change the name. Cox thinks “There’s a lot of other influential activists that they could put instead and honor them.”
Is the horror genre dead in 2026?
Cox answered with a simple “Yes,” but Orsburn disagrees, claiming that the genre “has gotten less flashy and more psychological.” Once again, Gonzalez Villaquiran and Hernandez are in agreement with Hernandez affirming that the genre has “sadly” been dying for years. Villaquiran added that his most recent horror viewing was “uninteresting.”
Does UTSA baseball deserve a new stadium?
Hernandez and Cox believe it is time to reward the overachieving Roadrunners with a new venue, but Orsburn feels funding a new project would mean prioritizing athletics over academics. Gonzalez Villaquiran does not know if the team necessarily deserves one, but if they do get it, he just wants it to be on campus, explaining that “the Alamodome is already too far for us, like thirty minutes. Maybe just [increase] the capacity [of the old stadium].”
