As students wrap up the semester in less than a month, Roadrunners hurtle towards summer vacation. From extinct species to summer, students prepare to step into the rays of vacation.
This week on Bird on the Street, The Paisano interviewed senior business analytics major Aidan Mills, freshman business major Sammie Swift, freshman microbiology major Zoe Collins and senior computer science major Gohith Reddy.
Who would you choose to speak at commencement?
Although spring 2026 commencement is less than a month away, UT San Antonio has yet to announce a guest speaker. Two of the Roadrunners opted for UT San Antonio faculty, while the other two longed to hear the wisdom of musicians. Mills shouted out modern languages and literature Professor of Instruction and Assistant Dean for Experiential Learning Initiatives Michael Rushforth, while Reddy voiced approval for Computer Science Department Chair Fred Martin, Ph.D. Collins and Reddy confidently chose Justin Bieber and Drake, respectively.
Who do you think will win the NBA Finals?
Of course, being in the home of the silver-and-black, Mills, Collins and Reddy all cheered for the San Antonio Spurs. Swift went against the grain and expressed enthusiasm for LeBron James’ championship chase with the Los Angeles Lakers. Mills, Collins and Reddy clearly know ball.
What is your favorite dinosaur?
Despite being extinct, dinosaurs never go out of style. A quick ponder to the past offers a brief break from difficult statistics and microbiology homework. Mills and Collins cheerfully declared the Pterodactyl, despite the winged reptile being a pterosaur and not a dinosaur. Swift questioned if her favorite dinosaur was the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Reddy named the Spinosaurus.
What are your summer plans?
Swift plans to head out of the city over the summer. “I’m going to Austin for a month, to live there,” Swift pensively said. Collins plans to go on a “super long California roadtrip,” but was not yet entirely sure which highway to take. Reddy was hopeful that he would graduate, and after that, he had no comment. Mills is tapped into financial growth. “To work and make that green,” Mills playfully responded.
