As spring quickly turns to summer, students have been registering for classes and clinging to their favorite songs as the unwelcome presence of finals creeps in. Some students detest the season’s change, while others embrace summer’s emergence. Students spend the semester’s last month soaking up campus resources.
This week on Bird on the Street, The Paisano interviewed sophomore psychology major Laura Saunders, freshman biology major Chase Hollingsworth, freshman biology major Caitlin Colunga and senior kinesiology major Noah Reed.
Have you registered for classes yet?
Many students have procrastinated the chore, while others have had both positive and negative experiences registering for classes. Saunders explains that she has not yet registered for classes, and Colunga is in the same boat.“I have to get on that,” Colunga confessed, continuing to explain that last semester, “It went pretty easy.”
Hollingsworth and Reed had conflicting experiences. “Registering for this semester was almost impossible, and my advisors ignored me for two months,” Hollingsworth cautioned. On the other hand, Reed registered with ease. “My advisor helped me out, made sure that I had all my classes set to graduate next semester,” the kinesiology major explained.
Do you know about the sexual health resources on campus?
Students are remarkably well-informed about UT San Antonio’s sexual health resources. While slightly uncertain about the resource’s extent, Saunders has heard of sexual health events on campus, stating, “I did see the fair.” Hollingsworth is confident in his knowledge and said, “Of course I do.” Colunga is also in the know. “Yes, I’ve seen it in a little booth,” she responded. Reed said that he heard about the resources “here and there” and that he “saw there was a sexual health fair not too long ago.”
Do you prefer spring or summer?
When given the ultimatum, students are divided on which season they prefer. Saunders and Colunga gave an answer that needed no explanation: summer. However, Reed compellingly argued in the warmer season’s favor. “Summer for sure. It’s hotter outside, pool parties and everything, usually back home with the family or out with friends, don’t have to worry about school,” Reed asserted. Hollingsworth disagreed and said, “Spring, because I like it colder.”
What is your favorite spring song?
When it comes to exceptional spring tunes, UT San Antonio students are tapped in. Saunders set the bar high by picking “Good Days” by SZA as her favorite. Colunga looked to the 2000s, citing “Pocket Full of Sunshine” by Natasha Bedingfield. Hollingsworth prefers the previous decade, choosing “Tomorrow” by Silver Chair. Reed went with a more modern option and picked “GOODFELLAS” by LUCKI.
